very skillful person. Yali ffuluku mu kukwata emisota. He was very skillful in his ability to handle snakes. Abantu bamwogerako nga ffuluku mu kumannya eddagala ery'ekinnansi. The people described him as being an expert in (knowing) native medicine.

be easy to scorn. Tagayika. He is not to be despised/a person whom one would despise.

a- (ka/bu) accident; misfortune, ebis eera eby'akabenje, period of emergency, kugwa ku kabenje ka mmotoka, to be involved in an automobile accident, kwabula kabenje, to miss being involved in an accident; to come out of an accident unscathed.

He is very seriously ill, lit. he is in the (obuyinza, power, implied) of God. Nze siri ku muntu ayagala okunywa omwenge. I do not care for a person who likes to drink beer. In form and function ku is related to the enclitic -ko, q. v.

-o the appl. inf. of ba, be. as a conj. because of, on account of, on account of being. Ekyo yakikola lwa kubeera mwami. He did this (= he got away with this) because he was a chief/on account of being a chief.

Wisdom is a luwombo; when it gets torn you can always cut another one. If one method fails, a wise person will adopt an alternative solution. oluwombo okulufumitamu akati, lit. to pierce a luwombo with a stick, i.e., throw cold water on someone's plans, ideas, etc. cf. ekiwombo.

o- no plur. (lu/n) outward cleanliness, superficial cleanliness. Alina luyonjoyonjo, sso si buyonjo bwa namadda- la. He gives the appearance of being clean, but he really isn't, cf. -yonjo, obuyonjo.

e- (n/n) being; state, condition, embeera y'obudde, weather, climate, okuva mu mbeera, to get out of sorts, to become worked up/disturbed, lit. leave one's (usual) State, eby'embeera z'abantu, community development, public welfare, cf. ba, beera.
