a- lit. in a manner expressing cessation of rebellion or opposition. Yaseka busesi majeemulukufu. He just laughed sheepishly (indicating that he had been bested), cf. jeema and its conv. jeemulukuka.

e-: okutunula embebere, to look sheepish/embarrassed/ashamed.

kuseka nnyindo yankolera. to laugh boisterously/uproariously. kuseka makkete, to laugh happily/ contentedly, kuseka bikkete, to laugh in spite of oneself, kuseka majeemulukufu, to laugh sheepishly, kuseka kasambu- labbwa, to laugh loud and boisterously, lit. it takes the skin off of a wound.

etc. Ekisulisa endiga omutwe tekigigaana na kumanya mbuzi gye ziraze. (prov.) What makes a sheep hang its head does not prevent it from knowing where the goats have gone. Appearances can be deceiving. cf. -esulifu, obwesulifu.

The prisoner makes the plea that he killed in self-defense, kuwoza gwa mbwa ng'ate endiga erinnya ennyumba, to have double trouble, lit. to plead the case of the dog while the sheep is climbing up on the house.

ng'ate endiga ewa- lampa enju. (prov.) We are still pleading the case (omusango implied) of a cat giving birth to a dog, and then a sheep climbs up on the house. It never rains but it pours.

v.i. be silent/ taciturn; be at a loss for something to say; fail to express oneself when one is expected to; be dumbfounded; be incommunicative while maintaining a sheepish or foolish expression.

v.i. bleat (of a male goat or sheep during the rutting season).
