e- no plur. (li/ma) dust, residue of crushed grass, kulonda bwoya mu kkukuuzi, to be occupied in an extremely difficult task, lit. pick up little hairs from the dust. cf. olukukuuzi.

o- (lu/n) elbow, okubukeereza enkokola (-bu- = obudde), to wake up bright and early, to begin (a taskj or start (a journey) early in the morning, olukokola lw'entebe, the arm of a chair, cf. akako- kola, nnabankokola.

e-: okulya mu nkuuli, to spit on the palms of both hands preliminary to doing a big or difficult task, okweriisa enkuuli, to give everything one has to what one is doing; to be proud and confident.

e- (n/n) calf of the leg; in the plur. loins, kulega muntu ntumbwe, to follow after a person, dog the heels of a person. Mugende muzannyeemu emmere ekke mu ntumbwe. Go and play a while so your food may be digested, lit. go down into the calves. Kulemberamu y'akulega entu- mbwe. (prov.) lit. (He who says) ‘you go first' is measuring the size of your legs. He who gives you a task is trying to test your capabilities.

mu mmere banteereddemu nnaganga wa ki? What have I eaten, what sort of hideous thing have they put in my food? Omukulu bw'atakwata mu kisibo, embuzi zifa nnaganga. (prov.) If the person in charge does not take over in the pen, the goats die of nnaganga, i.e., if the leader does not perform his tasks the whole organization deteriorates.

a person who is unstable/fickle/unable to carry a task through to its conclusion, cf. batuka.

v.tr. caus. cause to jump; make fly. kubuusaawo kintu. to eat up completely; to finish completely (a task). Tayinza kubuusa bigambo ebyo maaso. He cannot overlook/ignore these matters. Yabuu saamu olubuto lwa myezi mukaaga. She had a miscarriage after six months.

o- (mu/mi) work; task; job; employment; business, kuggwa mirimu, to be well done; to be dressed beautifully, be dressed ‘fit to kill.' cf. eddimu, akalimu.

drinks, beverages, kunywa taaba, to smoke tobacco, kunywa buzzi, to understand with no difficulty (e.g., a school lesson); to complete without any trouble (a task), lit. to drink like water. kunywamu kendo, to outdo others, lit. to drink from a small ladle, eggoolo okunywa, to be scored (of a goal in football), kunywa mpewo or ku mpewo, to enjoy oneself, have a good time, lit. drink some air. Tanywa gu- teeka. He is not one to be trifled with/to fool with, lit. He does not drink (beer) which has settled down. Zinadda okunywa. There is going to be a showdown. We (they) are going to have it out.

select; assign (to a task); sort, sort out.

v.tr. load; overload; burden down; fig. burden (with a difficult task). Nze nnabinikibwako gwa kuketta gusaawe gwa nnyonyi. I was assigned the difficult job of spying on a large airfield.

retain. Omulimu gwe nsigazza kwe kutegeka... The task remaining for me is to prepare... cf. ekisigala, ensigalira.

o- (mu/mi) trouble, difficulty; chore, daily task; problem. Gyebale emi- teeru. Gyebale emirimu. Thank you for the work you are doing. (These phrases are used almost in the nature of a greeting.)

-efunyirira (-efunyiridde) v.i. appl. 2 refl. work very hard; apply oneself diligently; concentrate (on a task).

-etuma (-etumye) v.i. refl. send oneself. v.tr. undertake (a task). etc. Tagenda kulutumira mwana. lit. He is not going to send a child on the trip (-lu- implies olugendo, trip), i.e., he is going himself (because what is anticipated at the event will be exciting or important).

be cooked; fig. be pained/bruised. Engalo zinneefumbye olw'okukola ennyo. My fingers are bruised from too much work, okwefumba ku kintu, to struggle hard with something, undertake a difficult task. Emmeeme etefumba bigambo ekwogeza munno by'atalyerabira. (prov.) lit. A heart which does not cook its words makes you say what your friend will never forget, i.e., think before you speak.

allow to accrue (of unfin ished tasks); allow to get out of hand; defer, delay, okwezimbiriza olugendo, to keep putting off a journey. Si kirungi kwezimbiriza mirimu. It is not desirable to let work pile up (on oneself). cf. ekizimba; zimbagala, zimbagatana.
