e- (ki/bi) block placed under the wheel of a vehicle to prevent it from rolling; fig. stumbling block.

e- (li/ma) egg. amagi amasii ke, fried eggs, kukuba za ku magi, to be a coward, act in a cowardly way, lit. strike the hens (enkoko is implied by za) (who are sitting) on the eggs. Kiriba kya nsonyi bwe mulirya eggi. lit. It will be a shame if you eat the egg. This derives from the proverb okulya eggi okwesub.ya omuwula, to eat the egg and miss the meat. The implication is that if one allows an egg to develop into a chicken the gain will be greater. Bulijjo afuna magi mu kubala. He always gets zeros in arithmetic, cf. ekigi.
gimusa (-gimusizza) v.tr. caus. make fertile, fertilize; cause to grow well, ebigimusa, fertilizers. cf. -gimu, -gimufu, obugimu, ekigimusa.
n. (hoe), omuyini; (knife) ekiti; (shield) omuwambiro, omukonda; (jaw) ekigingi; (pot) e'ŋŋ ngo. broken hoe h., ekiyinigi. fix in h., okuwanga. take out h., okuwangula.
o- also lunnyo (lu/n) stretch of barren soil, olunnyunnyu, scattered area of barren soil, with the -a of rel. infertile. Ekitundu ekimu kigimu, ekirala nga kya lunnyu (or lunnyo). One area is fertile, whereas the other is barren, cf. omunnyu.
e- (n/n) leopard. Ekika ky'Engo, the Leopard Clan. Bwe nnamusanga, nnali ?dde ku n~c crikc sm-.vsna. When I •met him he was in a furious state of mind, lit. 1 was like one who had fallen upon a leopard with a cub. Ekitta engo kigiyinga buzito. (prov.) That which kills the leopards is heavier than the leopard, cf. Wango.
etc. Ekisulisa endiga omutwe tekigigaana na kumanya mbuzi gye ziraze. (prov.) What makes a sheep hang its head does not prevent it from knowing where the goats have gone. Appearances can be deceiving. cf. -esulifu, obwesulifu.
