a- (ka/bu) lit. it bites (luma) the herdsmen (balunda), a kind of poisonous, lizard-like reptile.
e- (ki/bi) kind of large poisonous hairy caterpillar.
o- (lu/n) kind of evergreen shrub, the leaves of which are highly poisonous. cf. 3skiwoko.
a- plur. (li/ma) the datura plant. The poisonous drug extracted from the fruit was formerly used in trials by ordeal. Also, because of its intoxicating effect on guinea fowls, it is used as bait to trap these birds. cf. omuduudu.
e- also embalabaasa (n/n) kind of small poisonous snake. Mmwe emisota, abaana b'embalasaasa. Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers (Matth. XXIII, 33).
e- (n/n) kind of very poisonous snake.
e- (n/n) kind of small poisonous ant; fig. sharp/stinging pain. Omumpi w'akoma w'akwata, ensolosozi eruma atudde. (prov.) A short person can only grasp as far as he can reach {lit. where he stops is where he grasps), the nsolozi bites (only) the person who is sitting down. A person who does what he can is not to be despised, cf. akasolosozi.
