-ewera (-eweze) v.i. refl. forbid oneself. Yeewera okunywa omwenge. He forbade himself to drink beer. This is a play on words. Th ere is another -ewera which means to vow, swear (see the previous entry). The sentence can therefore also mean He swore that he would drink beer. cf. -were.
