e- (ki/bi) deserted house; deserted place. Omukadde akira ekifulukwa. (prov.) An old feeble tenant is better than an empty house. Half a loaf is better than no bread, cf. fuluka.
o- (mu/ba) tenant (on a piece of land ).
e- (n/n) beer given to the chief by the tenant for the use of land; tithe paid by a tenant based on the number of acres of cotton, coffee, etc., under cultivation. cf. vujja.
o- (mu/ba) tenant; temporary resident; newcomer, recent inhabitant; emigrant; new member; servant. Basenze were originally people who lived on the private lands of a chief for whom they worked or fought in exchange for the land which they tenanted, cf. Isenga.
